Passion World Tour – Hong Kong – Chris Tomlin – David Crowder Band

Word got around town that Chris Tomlin and the David Crowder Band were playing Hong Kong in early June as part of a World Tour to generate movement among university students around the world.  Fortunately for us some friends from church had extra tickets that we were able to get hold of.  Melanie and I setup a babysitter for the kids and had a date night to go to the concert.  I met her after she got off in Tiu Keng Leng and we grabbed a bite at Cafe O in Wanchai that was pretty good and we’d suggest it for something in between dine-in and fast food.  After becoming a Christian when I was 20 I must admit that it took probably a good 5 years before I started really enjoying Christian rock, and this may have very well been my 1st Christian concert.  I was really impressed with both Chris Tomlin and David Crowder.  A few things that stand out in my mind that I’ll remember is the feeling of the movement of the Holy Spirit among the university students.  Hearing a message preached in both English and Cantonese and seeing the way certain phrases didn’t translate directly.  Finally, singing How Great is Our God in the native language.
