Ezri Tries Dance, Kid’s in the Playroom – June 26, 2010

Posted in Exhilarating EZRI Excerpts, JAVI's Highlights by jpcase01 on June 26, 2010

A friend told us about an interest class for dance in Maritime Bay which is two away from us.  The classes are in Cantonese and we’re trying to get Ezri more exposure since we’re hoping to register Ezri and Javi in Cantonese kindergarten in the fall.  Ezri was pumped up about the class although she showed a little anxiety upon arrival.  Javi and I had a milkshake while we waited for her to get out of class.  Afterward she had mixed reviews, she told me she didn’t like the class because the teacher spoke both Spanish (she gets Cantonese confused with Spanish) and English.  She told the teacher however that she did like (crazy how young they learn to people please).  I’ll be interested to see what she tells Melanie when she gets home.  Ezri’s review was very positive from the teacher however (what are they gonna say, they want us to take the class right).  The breakthrough may have come when we went to the playroom afterward though.  Ezri has a difficult time playing with kids she doesn’t speak English even though we’ve really tried to encourage her to.  However, today after her dance class when we went to the playroom she did make a friend that only spoke Cantonese and they seemed to have a really good time.  We hope the 3 week interest class for Cantonese kindergarten in our neighborhood further reinforces her openness to learning the language, being around it and interacting with it.
