Case Family in Hong Kong

Pray for the Cases, March 2014

Posted in Daily Life Blurbs, Prayer Letters by jpcase01 on March 26, 2014

I know it’s been slow here on the blog but taking care of 5 kids is exhausting and I find the time I used to use for updating the blog is better spent resting these days (I’m getting old).

Anyway, we covet your prayers right now. We found out a few weeks ago that we will have to go back to Uganda to go before a judge again. A long story short is that we are currently “legal guardians” for Ethan and Hellen and Hong Kong immigration won’t recognize us as “parents” of Ethan and Hellen to issue dependent visas so they can stay in Hong Kong with us, without having an adoption decree. Normally, you have to live in Uganda for 3 years to be issued an adoption decree, but we are making a petition that they issue an emergency adoption decree to us. Please pray that the judge will rule in our favor. If not, we will be in a VERY difficult position and will most likely have to consider moving back to the States.

Pray for Melanie. Melanie has accepted a 6 month contract with Watermark church (our former church) to fill in for her friend while she is on maternity leave. Melanie is up to juggling 5 kids and a part-time job and all is going well for now but it’s a bit closer to the edge than I enjoy seeing her live. Also, she will have a bunch of work to get done IF she has to go and stay a few weeks in Uganda.  Pray for Melanie’s patience with the kids.

Pray for me (Jason). Finances are a bit tight right now. I literally just got the adoption paid off and now we find out we’ll have to take ANOTHER trip back to Uganda. Melanie is bringing in some extra money right now but we were hoping to use all her earnings toward a trip home in the summer. Pray I continue to find favor in my work place as I’ve been traveling more and gaining more responsibility bit by bit.  Pray for us as we try to discern where God wants us to be in church community in the fall.

Pray for Ezri. Pray for Ezri at school, that she continues to stay positive and can find a way to thrive in the local school system that is so counter cultural to western ideas. Pray she continues to progress in her Chinese studies, particularly her reading and writing. Pray for her if she has to stay here in Hong Kong while we return to Uganda.

Pray for Javi.  Pray for Javi as he continues to transition from being one of the babies of the family to one of the elders.  Pray for him as he continues to grow in his awareness of adoption and in his identity as a Case.  Pray for Javi as he prepares to enter local primary school next year.  Pray for Javi if we do not get to visit the States in the summer as no one will be more disappointed (maybe Ezri) than him.

Pray for Ethan and Hellen.  Pray for Ethan and Hellen as they continue to adjust to Hong Kong and our family.  They are doing great right now but still have many emotional issues to work through.  Pray for Ethan and Hellen when we return to Uganda that they are not traumatized by the return.  Pray for Ethan and Hellen that we will get a favorable ruling from the judge and we can rest assured that we can remain legally here in Hong Kong.  Pray for Ethan & Hellen’s continued language learning.

Pray for George.  Pray that George will stay in bed through the night.  Pray that he won’t bully Hellen.  Pray that he continues to see his new siblings as a great blessing from God.

Thanks for praying for us!

Hebrews 11:8 “It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going.”
